cmc logo

From Cape May County

Beginning Tuesday December 19th and continuing until Friday, December 22, 2023, Fishing Creek Road between Breakwater Road and Tabernacle Road will be closed to thru traffic and detoured as the roadway resurfacing begins. The roadway will be closed during the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. during active periods of milling and paving. Local traffic will be maintained, and residents will always have access to their homes. The roadway will be reopened to traffic at the end of each day.

Traffic heading south along Fishing Creek Road will detour east onto Breakwater Road (Cr 613) to Shunpike Road (Cr 644) where they will be directed south along Shunpike Road. Motorists can either head southeast onto Tabernacle Road (Cr 647) or continue along Shunpike Road back to Fishing Creek/Academy Road (Cr 639). Traffic heading east along Breakwater Road approaching Fishing Creek Road will be directed to continue to travel along Breakwater Road and follow the detour route noted above.

Traffic heading north along Tabernacle Road approaching Shunpike Road and traffic heading north along Academy Road approaching Shunpike Road will be detoured northeast along Shunpike Road to Breakwater Road and will continue west along Breakwater Road and back to Fishing Creek Road at the intersection with Breakwater Road. Fishing Creek Road will remain open between Bayshore Road and Breakwater Road during this phase of milling and paving.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution along the detour routes and to exercise extreme caution if travelling along the portion of Fishing Creek Road undergoing milling and paving at night as they will be limited visibility and a 2” drop off along the centerline at the interface of the new and existing paving.
