Karen Lisa “pumpkin” Paxton 52 of Erma, NJ passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2023 in North Wildwood after a lengthy and tormented battle with alcoholism.
Karen was born in Upper Darby, PA to Geraldine and John Paxton on February 6, 1971. She went to high school at Lower Cape May Regional High School and graduated in 1989. She went on to earn a degree from ACCC Culinary Institute. She worked in the restaurant industry locally for years and most famously was the owner/operator of Peter Shields Restaurant 1994-2000 with her partner. They were some of the original founders of the” Second Helping Program” that took leftovers from local restaurants to soup kitchens throughout Cape May County. She was a self-proclaimed “dead head “and she travelled to as many Grateful Dead Concerts as she could get to. She enjoyed baking, cooking, reading Stephen King novels and was well known for her delicious soups.
She is survived by her parents Geraldine and John Paxton, and her brother Jon Paxton.
