SWAINTON — The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce presented Bob Noel with the 2010 “Business Person of the Year” award March 26 at the annual installation and awards dinner.
According to a release, Noel has been with State Farm Insurance for 27 years and owns the local agency in Court House. He was praised for his many contributions to his church, business community and the residents of Middle Township. A family man with strong ties to Our Lady of the Angels Church, Noel has chaired their annual golf tournament and is raising money for a capital building project. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight for two years.
His agency provides planning workshops for local students, sponsors many sports teams and offers Child Safety ID program at the fall Harvest Festival. Middle Township Mayor Susan Delanzo praised Bob for stepping up and chairing the township’s Smart Growth Committee and he has played an integrate part in the Master Plan development. “Bob has spend endless hours and is committed to see this project through to its conclusion. We’re lucky that Bob and Barb chose Middle Township as their home,” Delanzo said.
Noel served as chamber president for eight years and has propelled the organization to record membership. With his leadership skills, he was finally successful in bringing the business district of Rio Grande into the chamber and personally recruited board members from that area. “Past President Rick Rixey said that Bob has accomplished what many before him have never been able to, bringing in members from Rio Grande. These businesses not only joined, their representatives are now active board members.”
Noel and wife, Barbara, raised three children before relocating here in 1998.
In his spare time Noel enjoys golfing, golfing and golfing. He also enjoys traveling and always has his golf clubs with him.
The award was presented at the chamber’s annual installation and awards dinner held on March 26 at the “Links Club” at Stone Harbor Golf Club.
