Avalon Free Summer Concerts Lined Up

By Herald Staff

AVALON — Although it’s still cold outside now, the Avalon Recreation Department is already preparing its 2010 summer concert series lineup.
The Avalon Department of Recreation has assembled a lineup of top-flight local entertainment that will provide visitors and locals with three free music concerts every week during summer 2010.
“This is the best free entertainment lineup that we’ve ever assembled”, said Dave Haberle, the director of the Avalon Recreation Department.
“We understand that people deeply appreciate free entertainment during the summer, and this lineup of entertainment will compliment everyone’s weekend visit to Avalon.”
Free concerts will be held on Friday evenings at the Avalon Veterans Plaza, located at 21st Street and Dune Drive. Free beach concerts will be held every Saturday and Sunday afternoons on the beach, at 30th Street. 33 free concerts will be offered in Avalon as part of the Summer Concert Series 2010, along with other music concerts as well.
The music concerts will feature a variety of entertainment to suit all musical tastes. Reggae music, classic rock, pop, country, big band, and even the sounds of Sinatra will be offered for free during the summer months.
“A vacation in Avalon is the best value at the shore”, Haberle said. “Avalon is the only local beach community in our region to have no paid parking—no parking meters, no paid parking lots. We’re proud to present these free concerts to our visitors and residents all summer long.”
