Commander and Captain Thomas—husband and wife—continue lecture series

Captain Cari Thomas and her husband, Commander Gary Thomas are scheduled to be the guest speakers at the NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum’s Free Historic Lecture Series Wednesday June 17 at 7 p.m.
Commander Thomas graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics followed by graduate course work at the University of Miami where he graduated with honors.
He has a Masters of Science in computer information systems with a graduate certificate in joint and combined war fighting.
The commander has served as hurricane planner for the Southeast U.S. and Caribbean. Among his numerous awards, Commander Thomas has received four USCG Commendation medals, Armed Forces Service Medal and Two Meritorious Service Medals.
His lecture will cover the history of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Captain Thomas is also a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. She continued her studies at the Naval War College graduating with a Masters of Arts in national security and strategic studies.
She also holds a Masters of Science in educational leadership and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering.
Captain Thomas has served aboard cutters Vigorous, Valiant, and commanded Manitou. She has extensive experience leading officers and enlisted personnel, as well as National exposure working within the Department of Homeland Security.
Her many awards include four USCG Commendation Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals and a Joint Service Commendation Medal.
Captain Thomas will explain the mission of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located in Historic Hangar No. 1 at the Cape May Airport in Lower Township.
