Juniors pitch clamshells in Cape May

By On Deck Staff

Summer days draw to a close and back-to-school gets closer and closer, which means it’s clamshell-pitching time again for kids of all ages.
The tournament has been re-named the Rich Reinhart Memorial Junior Clamshell Pitching Tournament in memory of its founder, and former president and founder of the International Clamshell Pitching Club of Cape May. The event coordinator is his daughter Stephanie Stephens.
Every year this kids’ funfest is put on by the City of Cape May as an official city event.
It takes place Sept. 4 on Windsor Beach, across from Congress Hall. To join in, all you have to do is show up at 11 a.m. sharp.
The tournament is free, shells are provided, both boys and girls can play, free instruction is provided by the pros, and there will be trophies for all winners and runners-up.
There will be two singles divisions by age—Under 10 and 10-17.
