Ris Gallery to Host Tribute to 100 Artists

In honor of its talented and diverse stable of painters, sculptors, and craftspeople the William Ris Gallery is presenting A Tribute to 100 Artists. Each artist will show one or more pieces of work.
The juxtaposition of these artists’ varied styles makes for an exciting compilation, creating a balance and rhythm of color, palettes, pigments and perspectives. The works will stretch from landscapes, still life, figurative, realism to abstract and vary in media from watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, wood to ceramic.
For over 40 years Barbara Schreckengaust, founder and director emeritus of the gallery, now 91 years old, has offered hundreds of artists from the United States and abroad the opportunity to present their work.
Many of these artists have gone on to long and successful careers. This show is a celebration of them. Schreckengaust’s inspiration for the gallery was her son William Ris Schreckengaust, one of her six children, who was the director until his passing in 1970. Now Schreckengaust’s daughter, Mary S. Cantone, is in the position of director and assists her mother in the daily operations of the gallery.
A Tribute to 100 Artists will open with a weekend- long celebration starting on Nov. 27. The show hangs through December.
The gallery will introduce four new artists: Will McCarthy, Marilyn Bauman, Patricia Walker and Sarah Pollock and four new potters: Art Wilt, Michael Sullivan, Leslie Koehler and a collection of totems by Cathy Gerson.
Also debuting in November is the gallery’s winter collection of fine art ceramics, glass, mosaics, textiles and Judaica pieces. All impeccably handcrafted and custom made, these one of a kind works are perfect gifts for the holiday season.
Featuring artists: Janine Sopp, ceramics and Judaica pieces; Christie Moody, fused glass and sculpture; Nancy Soloman, ceramics; Nina Cambron, fused glass clocks; Jennifer Goudy, tile; Jonathan Mandell, fine mosaics; Ron Korczynski, ceramics; Russel Spillman, ceramics; Joan Edelstein, textiles; Rachel’s Thread, fabric creations; and many more.
