Ocean City Police Arrest Man for Sexual Assault

OCEAN CITY — On April 21, 2009 the Ocean City Police Department received a report of an alleged sexual assault that had occurred in the 700 block 8th Street a couple days earlier.
Ocean City police and county Regional SWAT Team executed a search warrant on the address where the incident was reported to have occurred. At the time of the warrant execution no one was found at the residence. The scene was processed by the investigating agencies for forensic evidence.
An arrest warrant was issued for Shane L. Crouch, 39, in the amount of $50,000.00 full cash bail by the Superior Court of New Jersey. Later in the day information was received that the suspect, Crouch, was located in Atlantic City, NJ. Detectives from the Ocean City Police Department were able to arrest Crouch and take him into custody without incident with assistance from the Atlantic City Police Department.
Crouch was charged with sexual assault and lodged in county jail in lieu of bail.
Conducting the investigation were Ocean City Detectives Stephen Schaffer and Stephen Sullivan.
