Fire Control Tower takes aim

By On Deck Staff

The azimuth for Cape May’s newly restored World War II lookout tower—Fire Control Tower No. 23—has arrived and is ready to be installed.
The azimuth was delivered by representatives from Fort Miles at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware.
The telescope-like instrument was the principal means of aiming the big guns of the coastal artillery.
It will be installed in the Fire Control Tower No. 23 Museum & Memorial on Sunset Blvd. in Lower Township near Cape May Point.
On Friday, March 27 the tower will open to the public from noon to 3 p.m.
