Sea Isle City’s Fish Alley Festival on June 11 Was a Success

SEA ISLE CITY – Sea Isle’s 1st Annual Fish Alley Festival took place on June 11 at the resort’s recently-renovated Marina Park, 42nd Place and the Bay. The festival, which was hosted by the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization, featured a wide variety of family entertainment, including live music, a vintage car show, children’s activities, informational displays and vendors selling items ranging from hand-made pottery and jewelry to fishing gear and kids toys.
Among the numerous organizations offering free information to festival-goers was The Wetlands Institute, VFW Post 1963, the Sea Isle City Historical Society, The Gift of Life Donors Program and Autism Awareness. At the festival’s food court, patrons enjoyed clam chowder, lobster bisque, freshly-squeezed lemonade, grilled foot-long hot dogs and other tempting fare.
The event’s live entertainment included music by D.J. Billy McCormick as well as performances by The Cape Shore Sweet Adelines Chorus and the rock band Juicy. While kids were enjoying a face painter and the rides at nearby Gillian’s Funland Amusement Park, families were also strolling through the festival’s Antique Auto Show, which featured dozens of hot rods and other eye-catching vehicles.
Later in the day, Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio was given the honor of choosing the auto show’s two winners, and he proudly called the car’s owners on stage to present them with trophies. The winner of the Mayor’s Trophy was Jerry Raffa of Sea Isle City, the owner of a teal-colored 1957 Chevy Belair convertible in mint condition that turned many heads at the festival. The Best in Show trophy was awarded to Rich and Paula Truskolawski of Newark, DE, owners of a 1950 DeSoto Wagon with wood side-panels, which the couple purchased in 1989 and spent years restoring to its original splendor.
“Sea Isle’s first Fish Alley Festival was a tremendous success,” said Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce President Chris Glancey. “The weather was very cooperative and everyone really enjoyed themselves. It was a great day!”
