ERMA — Chief Edward Donohue of the Lower Township Police Department recently issued an enforcement summary report for the police department’s 2011 Click It or Ticket initiative sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Highway and Traffic Safety.
Lower Township Patrol Officers completed 26 hours of roving patrols during day time details, and 28 hours of roving patrols for night time enforcement while conducting check points at 54 fixed locations.
Officers issued a total of 231 summonses during the seatbelt enforcement details.
174 summonses were issued for seatbelt violations.
6 summonses were issued for child restraint violations.
6 summonses were issued for driving without a driver’s license.
2 summonses issued for not having motor vehicle insurance.
37 summonses issued for other moving violations.
In addition, officers arrested six persons for Driving While Intoxicated during the enforcement details and one person for Possession of Narcotics.
The main function of the details are to draw attention to the use of seatbelts, and child safety restraints which have been proven to save the lives of adults, children and infants
involved in serious motor vehicle accidents.
