This book represents nearly a decade of research into the heavy timber frame buildings found in the county. These buildings, also known as post and beam structures, date from ca. 1691. Avalon Players is a theater group composed of children ages six through fifteen. Each year the Players rehearse throughout the summer to perform a Broadway classic: this year's show is "Beauty and the Beast." One unique piece of this group is that every child who auditions is given a role. This years show is Thursday July 31st, Friday August 1st & Saturday, August 2nd at 7:00 pm. & Sunday August 3rd at 5:00 pm. All shows are at the Avalon Elementary School. Tickets cost $7.00, they are General Admission and are available at the door.

Sea Isle City Beach Patrol 10-mile Island Run Set for August 2

The 38th Annual Bill Gallagher 10-mile Island Run will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2008. Each year this event, which is sponsored by the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol, attracts a large number of athletes who return year after year to run this flat, traffic-free course along the town’s promenade and beaches.

The race will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the 44th Street Beach in Sea Isle City, rain or shine. However, an electrical storm may necessitate postponing the run until the first evening following August 2 when conditions permit.
