“The RMS Titanic,” a display of memorabilia and information highlighting the RMS Titanic, an Olympic-class passenger liner that sunk on the night of April 14, 1912, during her maiden voyage are featured. The largest kite festival in North America, every kind of kite imaginable
will be at the event, from traditional kites to enormous inflatable
creatures flown by professional kite flyers, members of local and
out-of-state kite clubs and interested spectators who register with the
event.

Avalon will be holding a Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 26, at 9am. American Legion Post 331 will be part of this event, along with elected officials and various other civic and volunteer organizations. The parade will proceed north along Dune Drive from 34th Street to the 21st Street Veterans Plaza, where a ceremony will take place. There will be a formal presentation of wreaths in memory of those men and women of the armed forces who gave their lives for our country.

Cape May City will host a Memorial Day Service in Convention Hall beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26. Participants will include City officials, local veterans organizations, the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
In addition to remarks from the honored guests, the Coast Guard Band will perform and a memorial wreath will be dropped into the ocean from a helicopter at approximately noon following the ceremony inside Convention Hall.

Sea Isle City – On Wednesday morning, May 28, the Marion Guild from Saint Joseph Church, Sea Isle City, is planning a pilgrimage to a pair of religious shrines in the Philadelphia region. For those who wish to join them, it promises to be an enjoyable, informative experience.

Their day will begin at 8:15 A.M., when their bus leaves the church parking lot and begins the journey toward Philadelphia. Along the way, the pilgrims will be served breakfast snacks and enjoy the trip in comfort.

Enjoy a weekend adventure to see the wild ponies of Chincoteague and Assateague Islands May 31 and June 1 with the Wetlands Institute. Travel from the Institute aboard a comfortable bus, cross the bay on the Cape May Lewes Ferry and continue down the Delmarva Peninsula while enjoying films about the ponies. After lunch enjoy a nature boat trip to look for ponies and birds or visit the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

Free! The 305th Air Mobility Wing will host the 2008 McGuire Air Expo – which is FREE to the public – on May 31 and June 1, 2008.

Headlining this year’s event will be the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Additionally, the F-15 air demonstration team is scheduled to perform. A large number of current and former military aircraft, including the base’s own KC-10 Extender, C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 Stratotanker will also be on display.

We have recently opened our membership to all branches of the military, and welcome new members who have been honorablly discharged from service, or are currently serving. Sea Isle City and AARP sponsor 7th annual Heart 5K Run/Fun Walk On Saturday, June 7, Sea Isle City and the local AARP chapter will hold their 7th Annual Heart 5K Run & Fun Walk at Kennedy Boulevard and the Promenade.
