“The RMS Titanic,” a display of memorabilia and information highlighting the RMS Titanic, an Olympic-class passenger liner that sunk on the night of April 14, 1912, during her maiden voyage are featured. The display is presented by Dawn Steelman of Woodbine during the month of May at the Upper Cape Library Branch, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg.

"Cooking with Herbs" - Rachel Palermo will teach us how to add flavor to our food, without adding calories, on Wednesday May 7th. Join Gardening-by-the-Sea Club meetings held on the 1st Wednesday of each month in the Lower Township Municipal Building, 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas. We begin with refreshments at 9:30 and our meetings start at 10:00. Also, we offer a Silent Auction with floral theme gifts, donated by club members.

Story Time for Children at Cape May City Library

Children are invited to enjoy “Story Time with Miss Anita” at the Cape May City Public Library, Ocean and Hughes Street, Cape May on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Story time encourages socialization and reading eagerness in a relaxed fun atmosphere. Miss Anita offers stories, songs, puzzles and crafts. Ranger Matt from the Cape May Point State Park offers special programs for the children throughout the year.

Spring classes for pre-schoolers will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays, April 9 to May, at the Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd., Stone Harbor. Children 4 years of age and older will learn about what’s happening in nature this time of year plus have fun with crafts, stories, activities, adventures in the marsh and more. Classes are 1 to 2:30 p.m. and cost is $60 for members for eight classes, $70 for nonmembers. Individual classes are $8 for members, $9 nonmembers. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. Call 368-1211 for information or to register.

The Cape May County Library Commission will hold its 2008 monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Cape May County Library, 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.

The dates of the scheduled meetings are January 16, February 20, March 19, April 16, May 21, June18, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19 and December 17, 2008.

On Wednesday, May 7th, Project ACES (All Children Exercising Simultaneously) is celebrating it's 20th year and the Avalon Students and Staff are participating in 30 minutes of sustained exercise to raise awareness of the importance of exercise and fitness. This project was started by Len Saunders, a physical education teacher from New Jersey in 1989. "Children need motivational and fun tools to enjoy exercise" explains Saunders. ACES is just that... a fun way to exercise. Children get excited to exercise because they know kids all over the world will be exercising along with them.

Avalon's 14th Annual Borough Wide Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm. Rain or Shine. Contact the Avalon Chamber of Commerce 967-3936 to secure your authorization poster to display at your yard sale. Fee is $10. A list of registered participants will be available at the Avalon Community Center on the morning of the event located at 30th & the beach and also in a box in front of the Avlaon Chamber of Commerce, 30th & Ocean Dr. all monies collected will go to the beautificaiton of Avalon.

Adult Program “Sex in the Sea” at Upper Library

Are you ready to take the plunge, to explore the depths of the eroticism of sea life? The Wetlands Institute of Stone Harbor presents a comical exposé, “Sex in the Sea,” of the sex lives of sea creatures and what they are doing beneath the waves, a program for adults only. This program will be held at the Upper Cape Branch of the Cape May County Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7th.
