Scoogi’s started as a restaurant dedicated to bringing a bit of our family’s Italian culture to you, so that you can celebrate each meal as we do. In our family, dinnertime was the centerpiece of our lives. Old world and new world customs bridged generations of family members. I remember great feelings of contentment and gratification at each meal, and an overwhelming feeling of love and security would overcome me. It is my dream to share these feelings with you.
I began pursuing this dream right here in Avalon, where I commenced my culinary career. After spending years honing my craft in the kitchen, I was able to take the first step toward realizing my vision by opening my first Scoogi’s in Flourtown, Pa. At Flourtown, I watched my dream of recreating and sharing the feeling I love with you blossom for 16 years. Now, with a family of my own to care for, I’ve decided to come full circle to the place where it all began: Avalon. I had always wanted to return to the beautiful seaside community here, and share my vision with its inhabitants. At Scoogi’s in Avalon, I have a place where I can take the kids to dinner and enjoy both a delicious meal and a great family experience, and so do you.

Ravioli House and Pastry Shop is a family, Italian restaurant with a complete take-out service, still owned and operated by the DeSanctis family today. Antonio and Teresa were immigrants from Italy and moved to Philadelphia to live with relatives. Every summer their families would travel to Wildwood to stay with Antonio’s aunt, who owned a building where she made homemade pasta. Nona loved the idea of owning a restaurant, and in 1970 the Ravioli House opened at the corner of New Jersey and Bennett avenues in Wildwood.
The Ravioli House provides a warm and inviting ambiance with beautiful murals of towns and villages in Italy. Enjoy your authentic, Italian cuisine to the soundtrack of soft, Italian music. At the Ravioli House everything is homemade, even the pasta, just like eating in your grandmother’s kitchen. Choose from spaghetti, linguini, fettuccini, angel hair, rigatoni, gnocchi, potato gnocchi, and cavatelli, and select one of ten sauces to enjoy a pasta feast just the way you like it. Pasta selections don’t stop there, try the stuffed shells, manicotti, baked ziti, and ravioli, or try “The Trip Around Italy” for a true taste sensation. Wish you could enjoy homemade pasta like this everyday in your own kitchen? You can, the Ravioli House take-out shop offers a variety of frozen, homemade pastas to go. Homemade soups such as Escarole, Chicken Pastina, and Pasta e Fagioli are available for take out also. Full course early bird specials are served Monday through Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. for $9.95. Also serving a full menu of wine by the glass or bottle, beer, and after dinner cocktails. Be sure to visit the pastry shop. The cases are filled with beautiful and delightful pastry cakes and pies, with so many to choose from it’s a dream come true. Now in their 15th year, Cucina Rosa serves delicious, classic Italian cuisine. Their fare includes zesty sauces, home baked bread and desserts, grilled meats, local seafood, fresh seasonal salads and creative specials. All made on the premises using the freshest ingredients and served with style. Menu specialties and favorites include Seafood Fra Diablo, Chicken Portofino, and the five ounce lamb chop. New this year is Cucina Rosa’s Diminutive Delights menu, featuring smaller portions of many of their specialties and favorites. Intimate dining indoors or out and patio seating is also available. Nino’s Family Restaurant from Cape May Court House is now in North Wildwood. Same great chefs, same great menu and same great staff. Owned and operated by Chef Antonio and son of Nino’s Spaghetti and Seafood House in Glassboro and Cherry Hill and Chef Rossi in Atlantic City. Chef Antonio blends his love for cooking his Italian heritage and his childhood memories to create a menu for the seafood lover as well as those with a passion for pasta.
Homemade red sauces and light creamy white wine sauces bring the cuisine of Northern and Southern Italy together at Nino’s Restaurant, serving Veal Valdostano, Pasta Puttanesca also Calamari, Mussels, and Scungilli, occasionally just to name a few. Special combination platters: Veal Shrimp Milano, sautéed with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes in a blush creamy sauce. Parma Pair Combination, Chicken and Shrimp Parmigiana. Campagnola, a combination of Chicken and Eggplant Parm. Alforno Lover combines Veal, Chicken and Ravioli Parmigiana. Garfield’s Giardino Ristorante, located at the corner of Garfield and Pacific avenues in Wildwood, welcomes a new addition this season, restaurant manager Dante Brunelli. Brunelli’s staff pays meticulous attention to detail with personalized service. The casual garden room setting will put you in the mood to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine as well.
Some menu favorites include: Orange Roughy Romano, tender white fish sautéed with garlic, onions, sundried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, and gaeta olives in a white wine lemon sauce and Tortellini Marisa, cheese tortellini with garlic, prosciutto, and peas in a creamy parmesan sauce. Don’t miss out of the five jumbo shrimp either, one of their most delicious dishes. Almost any dish is available upon request. Call ahead for same day notice, and your dining request will be granted whether it is lobster tail francese, rack of lamb for two, double size pork chops or surf and turf. The chef’s daily specials are hard to resist. One example is the angel hair pasta with crab meat, garlic, olive oil, and fresh, chopped tomato, in a white wine sauce, served with a salad. Offering a unique dining experience in an all-new marketplace atmosphere. The interior has been turned into an Italian Piazza. As you walk over the marble tiled floor, you pass the pescheria (fish market), the vegetable stand, and even get to look into the windows of Giovanni’s bistro, where the mural of contented diner suggest a relaxed atmosphere for family dining. The beautiful exterior complements the ambiance of Little Italy.
The menu offers several appetizers including appetizer sampler, which includes fried mozzarella, stuffed mushrooms, clams casino, fried calamari, and garlic bread. All dinners are served with warm, homemade bread and a salad with their house balsamic vinaigrette. Diners can create their own pasta dish with Little Italy’s choices of pasta, including spaghetti, angel hair, linguini, or their homemade ravioli, gnocchi, fettuccini, and others. Add one of their five homemade sauces, which include vodka and Alfredo, and you’ve tailored your own Italian feast.
