Visit Duffer’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor and you’ll agree with their slogan, “We serve old fashioned quality and quantity.” That’s the way it has been since 1974, when Duffer’s began as a golf course and custard stand. Today, enjoy family dining in a lovely Victorian setting. Experience the charming elements and classic design of ivy columns, wooden booths, and stained glass ceilings. Keep looking up and you’ll catch a glimpse of the model train that chugs around the track near the ceiling while Herbie the monkey rides a bike on the tightrope stretching across the entrance.

Start your day with their light Swedish pancakes at breakfast, and come back for the tempting luncheon selections, and full-course dinners. You may be looking for an array of light snacks or salads to save room for their delicious homemade ice cream treats, and not to worry, because Duffer’s has it all. Children of all ages will find hours of pleasure teeing off on Duffer’s interactive miniature golf course, featuring a nautical atmosphere with an oversized sinking ship, colorful fish, huge sand castle, and an octopus, all in a harbor town setting. Begin your meal with a selection from their extensive wine list or specialty martini menu. Delicious appetizers, classic, yet unique entrees and decadent desserts complete this contemporary dining experience. The appetizer menu offers a variety of flavors. Try the Lobster Quesadillas, topped with toasted corn salsa or the Shrimp Tempura, served with a citrus butter sauce. The distinct taste of Marie Nicole’s menu continues by adding a unique twist to classic entrees. Filet Mignon wrapped in apple wood smoked bacon and Crab Cakes topped with a spicy remoulade are just a sampling of the creative mix of ingredients. Other imaginative menu specialties include: Wasabi and Sesame Encrusted Ahi Tuna with a cucumber and seaweed salad and the Grilled New Zealand Rack of Lamb drizzled with a basil-mint pesto. Save room for dessert. The homemade Apple Crisp served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel, the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake and the Crème Brulee are all to die for. Specialty coffees and dessert martinis are also available. A three course dinner served daily from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. includes soup or salad, dinner entrée and dessert for just $22.95. Appetizers, desserts and cocktails are available until midnight. Reservations are recommended. Marie Nicole’s is conveniently located just over the bridge from Cape May in Wildwood Crest. Aleathea’s Restaurant and Porch Bar located in the Inn of Cape May at 7 Ocean Street on Beach Drive in Cape May, serves American and seafood al fresco on their oceanfront porch or in their air-conditioned Victorian dining room. Talent and experience, that’s what Aleathea’s wanted in a chef, and Tai Menz encompassed both.

Tai learned his talent of creating fabulous dishes by attending ACCC’s Academy of Culinary Arts. With all this experience under his belt, Tai now has taken over as Aleathea’s top chef and he’s making wonderful things happen. He’s revitalized the menu with new, contemporary dishes. In his words, he “like[s] trying new things.” One of the breakfast entrées is Stuffed French Toast with a filling made of Grand Marnier and mascarpone cheese, dusted lightly with powdered sugar. Or, how does this lunch entrée sound: an eight-ounce, sushi-grade loin of tuna, grilled and resting on a bed of field greens and grilled vegetables, topped with an Asian sauce that includes a bit of aji mirin, better known as rice wine. Dinner choices include asparagus and jumbo lump crab soup, beef carpaccio, clams, oysters, or deconstructed spicy tuna roll. Dinner entrées run the gamut from seafood to meat, chicken to pork. The grilled pork chop with spice rub, filet mignon, and prime rib are all steroid, hormone, and antibiotic free, while also being fed a 100 percent vegetarian diet. The crab cake is always a favorite using jumbo lump crabmeat. The seafood entrées are always fresh and include, crab imperial stuffed flounder, blackened red snapper, sesame coated tuna loins, BBQ salmon and Chilean sea bass wrapped in banana leaves. Vegetarian entrées and tableside cooking are also available.
