1931 packard
My brother in law, the 40-something likes to send me e-mails making fun of the fact that I'm now a member of AARP and eligible for all sorts of "senior disc ounts. Usually I delete them unread and later incoherently mumble "what's an e-mail" when he calls to ask what I thought of his latest. But I kind of enjoyed this one and thought those of you who remember a world before laptops, cell phones, and toxic assets might enjoy it too.
Here's a quiz that will separate the greybeards from the whipper snappers. It's called the "Older than dirt quiz"
Count the itrems you remember:
1) BLACK JACK CHEWING GUM
2) WAX COKE (the original quiz provides an explanation but if you need that, you don't remember.)
3) CANDY CIGARETTES
4) SODA POP MACHINES THAT DISPENSED GLASS BOTTLES.
5) DINERS WITH TABLESIDE JUKE BOXES
6) MILK HOME DELIVERED IN GLASS BOTTLES.
7) PARTY LINES ON THE TELEPHONE (Scenes from old movies don't count.)
8) NEWSREELS BEFORE THE MOVIE.
9) P.F. FLYERS
10) BUTCH WAX
11) TV TEST PATTERNS THAT MARKED THE END OF BROADCASTING UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING. (iF YOU REMEMBER STARING AT TV TEST PATTERNS, YOU CAN PROVE THAT YOU AT LEAST LIVED THROUGH THE '60'S)
12) PEASHOOTERS
13) hOWDY DOODY
14) 45RPM RECORDS
15) S&H GREENSTAMPS
16) HI-FI
17) MIMEOGRAPH PAPER
18) BLUE FLASHBULBS
19) PACKARDS
20) ROLLER SKATE KEYS
21) SNOW BOOTS WITYH METAL BUCKLES DOWN THE FRONT THAT NEVER BUCKLED AFTER THE SNOW GOT IN AND SOAKED YOUR FEET.
22) CORK POPGUNS
23) DRIVE-INS. For that matter, how many of you remember the Wildwood Drive-in?
24) STUDEBAKERS.
25) WASH TUB WRINGERS.
If you remember 0-5, you're a mere child
If you remember, 6-11, you were born before thew "Reagan Revolution"
If you remember 12-19, you're probably starting to lie about your age.
If you remember 20-25, you've got your eyes set on Methuselah's Bible record for longevity.
If you want to add to the list and test us ancients, feel free to comment.

Pup Trains Man, Day by Day

By Ray Rebmann
I've been raising puppies to become service dogs for the past ten years. There's still a lot they have to teach me. Join me over the coming months with our new puppy, Tessie, as I continue to work to improve my skills as a puppy raiser. Feel free to comment, offer advice, make suggestions...anything to help me improve. I know Tessie will appreciate it.

Though I am far too young to remember any of these, I find your blog articles great :)
