  • Rashes, Irritation, Blisters and Bleeding from Tagless Children's Clothes with Carter Brand

It is a huge concern to me that this has not gained more news. I am writing this to inform you that Carters is causing huge attention that is slowly growing. Children across the U.S. are getting blisters and such along their neck lines where the tageless labels are imprinted. Carter is offering little excuse but is suggesting for all returns to be made and no questions asked. One mother, Amy, comments, "Please, please don't return the clothing to Carter's. I think we need to find out what exactly was in those tags and I feel like they are going out of their way to retrieve the 'evidence'. what kills me is that they are saying it was only their fall '07 line- i bought the clothes in late spring- early summer of this year from a carter's store!"

This is a matter for those in South Jersey because a Carter store is in the outlet mall in Atlantic City at The Walk. The Walk is an outlet shopping complex. I personally called the store in Atlantic City. I spoke to a LeeLee, a saleswomen, who assured me that this baby was just allergic to the ink and it was a specific case. She assured me that she personally was allergic to seafood, and informed me that not everyone is allergic to seafood.

I quickly informed her that there was more then one case. I am saddened by the fact that she was misled by her employer. She did however suggest me to visit her website www.carters.com and assured me that if any local issues arise that all of the apparel is returnable. There address is

I've done quite a bit of research on this issue and I want to point out that
    a) Carter's stopped using the tags that were causing the reactions. The issue stemmed from the amount of label used and they have reverted to using smaller labels.
    b) Other brands of clothing have used the same type of label, and many people have also noted a reaction. The issue is with the tagless labels, not with Carter's per-se.
    c) Carter's has refunded and apologized to the people whose children have had the reaction. In every case to date when the children stopped being exposed to the offending labels they healed completely.
    d) It appears that the issue is an allergic reaction similar to a latex allergy, which is why most children are not reacting to the tagless labels.
