* Play "Name That Tune" while you are brushing your teeth. Hum a song and see if your little tykes can guess it, then it can be their turn!!

* Instead of brushing before bed, have your child brush right after dinner or before a favorite television show. Sometimes, I have noticed my child doesn't really, really hate brushing. He just hates brushing because he knows bedtime is afterward.

* Brush to music. A song normally lasts between two and three minutes, and this is the ideal amount of time needed to effectively clean your teeth. Brushing to the rhythm of the music will make it more interesting. In our family we call it dancing with your toothbrush.

* Let your child use an electric toothbrush or those fancy toothbrush tunes.

*Make brushing teeth fun! Look for ways to engage your children in brushing. Make it seem as if brushing is a fun thing to do rather than a chore. Get your child a fun and colorful toothbrush to start.

*Have your child brush their favorite doll's teeth before you brush their teeth. Remember to routinely give them the opportunity to brush their own teeth and then follow up by brushing their teeth correctly.

*Buy more than one brush for your child (we have 4 for my 5 year old). It might be all it takes to make your child feel like she has the power over a decision.

* Use a toothpaste that's specially made for kids. They offer more FUN Flavors!

* I go in a hoot and holler while I brush my teeth. Then I sound my kids in and they laugh the loudest the possibly can. It makes it more fun, and eventually you all will be laughing and brushing your teeth. Talk about multitasking! This is multi-tasking in the most silly way possible!!

* Play Simon Says with your tooth brush. Simon says, "brush the top teeth". Simon says, "brush your tongue". STAND ON ONE FOOT! Just make it fun.
