I thought I was young until yesterday when I realized I am a mom of a kindergartner. I have an age that by the middle of this year will be closer to 30 then 25! Aghhh, it is even harder to swallow in writing.

What makes this all so hard to grasp is that Mr. five year old's first day of school was on my birthday! It just wasn't fair! I am a little bitter about life's direction these days. No one asked me if it was OK that my boy took the next step into big kid word. The nerve of this step being scheduled on my birthday. It just was a double whammy, and 2 weeks later I am still trying to recuperate!

I am feeling older because my baby is definitely not a baby anymore. I am feeling older because.....I am older. I am feeling older because both of these older kind of things had happened on the same stupid day! I am sad because he needs me a little less. I am somewhat happy because I can have a couple more minutes of time to myself.(is that terrible to think that way???) I am thinking about MY past and my SON's future. I am looking at his excitement about school work, and my recalling of the days when I would sit on the floor with my own yellow lab and finish my homework.

Now what is left, Him bringing home girlfriends and my hair turning gray (not that there is anything wrong with gray hair, I am just not ready for that)? I am not ready for any of this? How can he be ready but I am not? My birthday just was not that happy when it was all about my babies growing up! No one told Mr. 5 year old he was allowed to do this, Aghhhh!
