  • Eyebrow Threading?????????

I just spent a weekend out of the county without the kids (more info on my exciting trip later). I was delighted to find a mall nearby that had an eyebrow store to get my eyebrows waxed. I immediately signed the book and sat in the chair waiting for my turn to have my (very needing) eyebrows tamed. As soon as I opened up a magazine, my name was called, and I reported to the chair. I was about to jump out of the chair when I saw my "thought-she-was-my-friend" eye brow waxer grab some of what I thought was dental floss and hold it up to my eye. I felt like jumping out of the chair or screaming but thought that would make a seen. So, I looked to my left and right and saw this dental floss phenomenon happening to my neighbors. I thought like saying, "Toto, I don't think we are in Cape May County anymore," when I heard (I thought I heard it anyway) and definitely felt my eye brows being detached from my body. Aghhhhh, what did I sign myself up for????? Within no time, (I got used to it after my initial "Is this lady for real?????" shock) I was finished and my eyebrows were perfect. They weren't burned, they weren't red, and usually that is my reaction from getting my eyebrows waxed.

After my voyage, to what seemed like a different country (but was only Indiana) was over, I investigated my eyebrow adventure and found this information. Eyebrow threading (it turns out it wasn't dental floss), is a common sewing thread. It hails from India, not to be confused with Indiana...the state that I was vacationing from. The removal technique involves twisting thread and removing the hairs from the roots. It is a chemical free process (love this earthy new green movement) and is gaining popularity amongst fair skinned people due to common burns and allergic reactions to the wax. Here is a video of the process if anyone else is curious!!!! http://video.about.com/hairremoval/See-the-Threading-Technique.htm

With this new method gaining speed across the USA, I predict it "may be" here before the year 2020, but who knows with Cape May County, maybe I will be surprised!!!! We gotta love that there is hope for us fair skinned princesses and queens. Now that I have been pampered in this way, I am going to be fretting the next time I get out and am about to get waxed.

Let me know if anyone spots a threader out there!!!!

Yep, my daughters and I sat at the mall eating pretzels and saw a mall cart doing some weird thing with "dental floss" only the girl's mouth wasn't open. We had no idea what was going on, even after my daughter snuck up to see that it was called Brow Threading. I thought maybe it was some forehead wrinkle treatment! Very strange! They got a lot of strange looks by passer-bys but not too many people in the chair!

I saw this years ago on Oprah practiced by a woman in Los Angeles. I wish it was here!!!!! I also love the "new green movement"!! Let's hope it gains serious momentum in our daily lives!!!
