Dover International Speedway Announces Date Change For Spring 2010

DOVER, Del. (Dover Speedway Press Release) – Historically, Dover International Speedway’s spring race dates depend on where the Memorial Day holiday falls. Through the years it’s varied between late-May or early June, and because Memorial Day comes late in 2010, Dover International Speedway’s spring race weekend has been moved to May 14-16, 2010, three weeks earlier than this year’s dates to accommodate a busy spring NASCAR schedule.

Keselowski to Penske in 2010?

CHARLOTTE, NC – While Rick Hendrick insists that Brad Keselowski is the future of Hendrick Motorsports, does that mean Keselowski won’t be racing anywhere else next season?

Rumors floating around the NASCAR world are putting Keselowski behind the seat of the No. 12 Penske Racing Dodge for the 2010 season.

While at first this may sound out of reach for those who feel Hendrick will try (understandably so) to keep Keselowski in his fold, the move would make sense for both sides.

F1 Driver Massa in Critical Condition After Wreck

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY- Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa is in serious but stable condition after a crash during qualifying for Sunday's F1 Grand Prix of Hungary.

Massa was taking part in the qualifying session when he was struck in the helmet by debris from the car of Reuben Barrichello. Massa then slammed head-on into the tire wall.

He was extracted from his car, taken to the track's medical center, then airlifted to AEK Hospital in Budapest.

Dewalt to leave Kenseth, Roush Fenway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dewalt Power Tools told Roush Fenway Racing that the company would not return as the sponsor of Matt Kenseth's No. 17 Ford in 2010.

Dewalt has sponsored Kenseth for 10 seasons, including his 2003 championship run.

It's Official - Truex to MWR in 2010

CHARLOTTE, NC – Martin Truex Jr. was announced today as the new driver of the No. 56 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota for 2010 in a press conference at the Michael Waltrip Racing headquarters.

Truex will move from his current ride, the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet at Earnhardt – Ganassi Racing to the No. 56 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota at MWR.

NASCAR Announces HOF Nominees

The nominees include:

MWR set to announce 2010 plans – Truex involved?

CHARLOTTE, NC – Michael Waltrip Racing has scheduled a press conference on July 7th to discuss the team’s plans for 2010.

It is widely expected that MWR will announce the signing of Mayetta, New Jersey native Martin Truex Jr.

Truex, currently the driver of the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, is expected to take over the driving duties of Michael Waltrip. Waltrip has struggled since forming his own team several years ago, and has repeatedly stated that it may be time for him to step away from the wheel.

Defending Champion Benson Loses Truck Series Ride

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Red Horse Racing has shut down the No. 1 Camping World Truck team, leaving defending CWTS Champion Johnny Benson without a ride after just eight races.

“It hasn’t been for a lack of effort,” majority owner Tom DeLoach said in a release. “We had several people working on finding a sponsor for the No. 1 and Johnny Benson. I’ve been working on it myself. We gave it our best shot, and we tried as long as we could, but nothing materialized.”

NASCAR Announces “Double-File Restarts – Shootout Style” For The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

Button, Castroneves winners, Coke 600 Postponed

CHARLOTTE, INDIANAPOLIS, MONTE CARLO – In the biggest racing day of the year, Formula 1 and the Indy Racing League crowned winners in its two biggest races of the season, while rains washed out NASCAR’s chance to do the same.

The Coca-Cola 600 was postponed until 12:00pm Noon Monday on FOX.

Jenson Button took the Grand Prix of Monaco, the most notable race on the Formula 1 Circuit.

Helio Castroneves won his third Indianapolis 500 just weeks after being acquitted on tax evasion charts, and America’s favorite IRL driver Danica Patrick took third.
