Report: Allmendinger to replace Sadler in No. 19

STATESVILLE, NC - Several media outlets are reporting that Gillett Evernham Motorsports is set to announce that they will replace driver Elliott Sadler with AJ Allmendinger in the No. 19 Dodge for 2009.

NASCAR Bans Testing for 2009

HOMESTEAD-MIAMI- NASCAR announced Saturday that testing will not be permitted at any NASCAR-sanctioned track in 2009.
The announcement is the first of several cutbacks expected due to the ailing economy.
DEI, Ganassi Racing to merge in 2009

U.S. Army to Sponsor Newman, No. 39 in '09

Stewart Haas Racing officials announced Thursday that the U.S. Army will sponsor Ryan Newman’s No. 39 Chevrolet for 20 races in 2009.
The primary sponsor for the remaining 16 races have not yet been named.
Allmendinger out at Red Bull; Menard leaving DEI?

AJ Allmendinger will not return to Red Bull Racing and his No. 84 Red Bull Toyota Camry for the 2009 season, team officials announced in a team press release Tuesday.
Mike Skinner was in the car for this week’s test session at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, but Allmendinger is scheduled to start for the team at this Sunday’s race in Kansas.

Johnson Wins Pepsi 500 Snoozer

Many people tuned into to Sunday night’s Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway to watch the growing rivalry of Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards.
Instead, they got a dominating performance by Jimmie Johnson in an event that could hardly be considered a race.
