WILDWOOD — The Wildwood Cornhole Tournament is coming to Wildwood Sun., July 11, on the beach between Lincoln and Garfield avenues. Bags will fly for this doubles competition starting at 11 a.m. with check-in/last minute registration starting at 9 a.m.
The early entrance fee is $35 per team if registered on or before July 2 and $45 on or after July 3. The first place team of the tournament will win $500 cash, with $250 going to second, $150 for third and $35 each to the fourth through ninth-place teams. You must be at least 18 years old to enter the tournament.
The game of Cornhole, also know as Bean Bag Toss, Hillbilly Horseshoes, Baggo or even Corn Toss , involves two playing boards (2’x4’ with a six-inch hole towards the top of the board) spaced 27’ inches apart from one another and eight six by six inch bags filled with one lb of corn.
The object of the game is to be the first player or team to reach 21 points (three points for a bag in the hole and one point for a bag that lands on the board surface). One Off Marketing, however, is taking the game of Cornhole and adding a twist to it, a bracket style, double elimination tournament held right on the Wildwood beach.
Families can spend a fun-filled day of Cornhole competition, live music, surf board painting on site by Gary’s Boards, cold beverages and Cornhole Boards for sale made by www.thewoodengameshop.com.
Participants and spectators alike are more than welcome to bring their own boards and other outdoor games to set up for pick up games; also, bring your towels, chairs, umbrellas and tents to make yourself comfortable on the beach!.
