COURT HOUSE – Rev. Dr. Glenn Schoenberger, Pastor, Bonnie Kratzer, Parish Nurse, and Stone Harbor Mayor, Suzanne Walters, Parishioner of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Stone Harbor, were recently presented with a $500 check by Gloria Schultz, Program Navigator, in recognition of the Church’s support of breast cancer awareness; ten women received mammograms as a result of the program.
“The family at Our Saviour Lutheran Church is proud to partner with Cape Regional Medical Center to bring such a vital health topic to the forefront,” stated Rev. Dr. Glenn Schoenberger, Pastor of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. “We are in the midst of a $450,000 renovation and expansion project entitled, “Grow With Us”. The $500 will help us move closer to our goal and has been designated towards the “Grow With Us” Campaign.”
The award is part of an incentive program through a grant by the Central and South Jersey Affiliate Susan G. Komen Reach-Out for Life Program administered by Cape Regional Medical Center. Faith-based organizations are encouraged to promote and support Breast Cancer Awareness to their congregations; a stipend of $500 is awarded to each church that sponsors and signs up ten or more women for mammograms.
Since April 2010, The Parish Nurse Program and Center for Lifestyle Management Center at Cape Regional Medical Center has been participating in the Reach-Out for Life Grant. The Grant focuses on women 65 years of age or older; however, women between the ages of 40 and 64 are also included.
