CAPE MAY – Women, men, and children in more than 170 countries will celebrate World Day of Prayer, Fri., March 2, 2012. The women of Malaysia have chosen this year’s theme, which is “Let Justice Prevail.”
They open the service with the words “selamat datang” –“peace and welcome” – a reminder that harmony as a people is rooted in peace and welcome. The women name fair and just governance as the basis for peace. The stories chosen by the women of Malaysia give credence to the suffering that empowers their prayer. A clear message emerges: It takes courage, compassion and active engagement for justice to prevail.
On March 2, 2012 let us resolve to work with God and with each other to create a world in which gender, race, culture, religion, and state is honored, nurtured, and empowered.
This year’s service will be held on Fri., March 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Cape May Lutheran Church at 509 Pittsburgh Ave in Cape May. Women from all communities of faith on the island have joined together to conduct the service, and wish to extend an invitation for all to join with them and the women of Malaysia in prayer and song to support ecumenical efforts toward justice, peace, healing, and wholeness.
A light lunch will be served following the service. Please note that Cape May Lutheran Church is handicapped accessible.
