OCEAN CITY - On July 11, 2011 at 10:15pm the Ocean City Police Department responded to a complaint at the Playland Amusement Park about a subject using counterfeit ride tickets. Upon arriving the employees of Playland had detained a suspect that was allegedly using the fraudulent tickets. The manager of Playland reported that since Memorial Day weekend the park has been receiving fraudulent tickets that are of a lighter color than the originals and that contain an identification number from tickets produced in 2008. A check of all ride tickets received on July 11, 2011 revealed that 47 fraudulent tickets were used on various rides all matching the ones confiscated from the suspect.
The investigating officers took custody of the suspect, Michael S Dimura, age 46, of Highland Mills, NY. Dimura was charged him with Uttered Forgery and Theft of Services. Dimura was later released on a summons. The investigation was conducted by Lt. Bruce Twiggs, Ptl. Tom Finnegan, and Det. Stephen Sullivan.
