SEA ISLE CITY-- Mike McHale, Dan Organ and Barbara Drew announced today that they are running together for offices in Sea Isle City’s May 10th election. McHale is running for Mayor of Sea Isle City, while Organ and Drew are seeking Council seats.

McHale currently serves on City Council and is a former Mayor of Sea Isle City. He is a retired teacher, a veteran US Military Police Sergeant and graduate of Penn State University. He also serves on St. Joseph’s Parish Council and our City’s Historical and Environmental Commissions. He has been a full time resident for 35 years.

McHale commented “Currently, as a member of City Council, one of my primary objectives has been to reduce waste in city spending. I voted against the 2008 and 2009 budgets and only voted for the 2010 budget after convincing fellow council members to cut 1/2 million dollars from the Mayor’s budget proposal. I also opposed the last two water & sewer rate increases due to the unfair rate structure….I believe taxpayers are fed up with government over-spending, unfair water and sewer rates, costly capital projects with little citizen involvement, overdue street repairs, excessive flooding and, summer parking problems. My philosophy has always been to work for the good of the taxpayer, not a few select people”.

“That’s why I’m running for mayor, to do what is best for all taxpayers. I have joined with two like-minded people, Dan Organ and Barbara Drew, who are running for City Council. Together, we will run on a platform of: Fairness, Integrity & Fiscal Efficiency!”

Organ serves currently on the City’s Zoning Board and School Board. He is a retired Operations Superintendent for Sunoco’s Philadelphia Refinery, a Viet Nam veteran, a member of VFW Post 1963 and, the Treasurer of K of C Madonna Maria Council 3560. He has owned a home in Sea Isle City for 30 years and been a full time resident for the past five years.

Organ stated “We will work to reduce the influence of a small select group. This unfair situation and its hidden costs are being pushed onto the taxpayer. We want our business community to thrive; however, currently there are too many initiatives, ordinances, decisions and enforcement actions benefiting only a small number at the top. We want to level the playing field with a government that involves and benefits everyone. That’s fairness and integrity!”

Drew currently serves on the School Board and is a retired Curriculum Director and Assistant Principal. She is a member of Catholic Daughters and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph’s Church and at Crest Haven and Ocean View Nursing Homes. A Sea Isle homeowner for 35 years, she has been a full time resident for the past 10 years.

Drew noted “We are also very concerned about our government’s tax and spend culture. We must aggressively reduce waste and lower taxes. We need to plan for our services, facilities, roads and infrastructures in a cohesive fashion and spend the taxpayer’s money wisely, as if it were our own. That’s fiscal efficiency!”

The team thinks “The next opportunity to change Sea Isle City’s course is May 10th. That’s three short months away. We invite citizens to get involved. Together we can work to make Sea Isle City better for all taxpayers.”
