COLD SPRING — The body of a man, believed to be a member of the Atlantic City Police Department, was found dead in an automobile at mile post 2.7 on the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway on Feb. 8 at approximately 9:20 p.m.

According to Sgt. Brian Polite of the State Police, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is continuing.

“The cause of death is still pending investigation,” said Polite. A positive identification of the man will be released at the conclusion of that investigation.

When contacted, a spokesman for the Atlantic City Police Department did not comment when asked if the deceased man was an officer in the city

Journalism at its finest is based on truth. Any slant or spin or non-disclosure of events for political reason or deliberate omission of full disclosure of any actual facts deviates from the principle.

@ tommyr I don't want to hear that, this is a news paper they report the news. The police probably didn't care to give details even though they should.

...Or, perhaps the paper and the State Police had some common sense, decency & regard for the dignity of the deceased and concern for his family & friends. If no suspicious circumstqances were present, there is no harm in keeping some information private.

So just wondering if there is a position available with the herald because whoever reported on this case is totally incorrect...... The car was picked up off the parkway at approx 8pm on Feb 8 at mile marker 2. Left in impound over night. No one knew anything until the "investigators" showed up looking for the "missing" officer. They failed to inform you there was note in the car "explaining everything". The body was later found by a k-9 at mile marker 2.7 in the woods seriously stop buttering everything up just goes to show some papers can be just as unreliable as some of the police anymore!!!!!!

(ED. NOTE: Source of information was New Jersey State Police.)
