COURT HOUSE - AtlantiCare Hospice and Palliative Care recognized and thanked more than 80 Hospice volunteers who attended its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner April 17 at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club, Egg Harbor City. AtlantiCare Hospice representatives presented volunteers with a gift and acknowledged their years of service. Approximately 130 AtlantiCare Hospice volunteers donated more than 3,000 hours in 2011. The event was one of several AtlantiCare hosted during National Volunteer Week, April 15 to 21, to recognize volunteers.
“AtlantiCare Hospice volunteers generously provide many hours of service for our patients and their families, as well as our staff,” said Maureen Hope, volunteer and bereavement coordinator, AtlantiCare Hospice and Palliative Care. “They do so by visiting with patients and their families, assisting with fundraising events, creating comfort shawls and lap blankets for patients, providing additional support to families after a loved one passes, assisting with clerical duties and assisting in many other ways. “The appreciation dinner is one way we thank these dedicated men and women for their commitment to making a difference for the families we serve.”
