COURT HOUSE -- The evening was just right for the arrival of Santa at Middle Township’s Christmas Parade, Fri., Dec. 2 a large crowd watched the parade, one of the longest in recent memory that went south on Main Street to Pacific Avenue then west to Boyd Street and north to the old firehouse.
Members of Middle Township High School’s Panther Marching Band livened up the parade music and banners. Numerous fire companies from throughout the county joined the line of march, as did some 4-H clubs.
Santa, the long-awaited Number One North Pole resident, got off the Court House aerial fire truck, and greeted small fans as he walked to the Christmas tree, just outside the bays of the old firehouse where, inside, the Tree of Life display drew many ohs and ahs.
Pastor Rudy of Lighthouse Church offered a prayer. Mayor Susan DeLanzo welcomed the crowd, and then, on the count of three, Santa magically lit the Christmas tree. To the amazement of the throng, at that moment the air filled with artificial snow to lend a holiday mood to the event.
Mrs. Claus, inside the Municipal Building, read stories to youngsters in the Meeting Room as other children colored and enjoyed refreshments.
In the County Library, apple cider and freshly popped popcorn brought smiles to many young faces, as did the puppet show in one section of the library.
Bell Choir of First United Methodist Church, North Main Street played a medley of Christmas music, and there were activities for children elsewhere in the church. Outside cookies and hot chocolate helped warm chilly spirits.

It is very important to have proper dress code in every occasion. Your personality depends the way you dress. If you have ever wondered about the origin of some of the popular fashion club, high school would probably be the most appropriate place to look.

I thought the Middle township Rec department took this over from the Chamber. Without and sponsors($$$) Backing you cant expect trolley service . It was nice when they had that.

First off thank you to the very few who showed hospitality the Church and Hugits were the only 2 places I saw actually showed hospitality and the family roasting Chestnuts, there used to be philly phanactic all kinds of floats and things was very short, used to have Trolleys taking people from Cape May Court House to Rio Grande to all the stores and carolers just really nice and was very disappointed, started and was over in a flash really with nothing much to offer to the residents. Thanks to the people who took the time to participate in the parade what was there was nice but just very short and done. Also could not believe they were selling drinks of alcohol right in front of the police station and just across from santa claus did not think that was place for that. Might want to change that for next year if they even have one. Sad

I agree that the vendor tents were a little much. This was supposed to be a "hospitality night". Very few establishments were offering anything unless it was for sale. And the sale of alcohol over by Santa was completely unecessary. Won't be back to this event other than to watch the parade. Very disappointing.

The parades of a few years back were the best. Then, the commercialization of Christmas by the Township Chamber of Commerce came along with the stupid idea of 'Christmas in Court House' and did away with the parade and polarized the community. It was better off before and needs to go back 100% to the way it was with all kinds of groups participating. Commercialization of Christmas, the biggest family holiday of the year, is a sin. Just ask any parent of a small child which they would rather have - a parade or tents selling goods similiar to the harvest festival and parade will win hands down every time. The harvest fest is a good idea, but one per year is enough. Christmas in downtown Court House? Show me all the quaint little shops and then maybe we'll talk about it.
