COURT HOUSE - The Cape May County Library will be hosting these various events.

County Library Hosts Course on Foreign Languages

Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library will host “Introduction to Foreign Languages from A-Z”, a four week course presented by Dr. Ralph Carrozza on Tuesdays, July 26, August 2, August 9 and August 16 from 6 - 7 p.m.  This program will take place at the Cape May Court House Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.

Learn basic phrases, words and greetings in over two dozen languages including Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin, and Korean. Students will receive all necessary course material including word lists and a full-color-world map courtesy of "Doctors Without Borders".

This is an ideal course for anyone coming into contact with people from foreign countries such as teachers, administrators, health care providers, bankers, sales people and world travelers.  It can also enhance a resume to increase career and employment opportunities. 

Dr. Ralph Carrozza has taught his language course at several locations including Delaware County Community College, Penncrest High School, The Marple Newtown Community Center and the Marple Public Library.

County Library Hosts Asian Cuisine Cooking Demonstration

Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Cape Cuisine: Asian Cuisine” presented by Chef Mark Kalla on Monday, August 1st at 1 p.m.  The program will take place at Main Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.

Chef Mark Kalla will demonstrate techniques and aspects of cooking Asian cuisine including sushi, rice and other Eastern delights. Participants will be invited to sample the foods that have been prepared.

Chef Mark Kalla is the head chef at Green Cuisine Restaurant in Stone Harbor, and had his own restaurant, The Barrier Island Inn.  Kalla was the executive chef for the Backyard Restaurant and later for Fish Tales. He currently runs the Avalon Elementary School cafeteria and teaches culinary instruction to children during the summer.

County Library Hosts “End of Summer Party”

The Cape May County Library invites children and their caretakers to all County Library Branches for an “End of Summer Party” featuring Brian Richards’ World of Magic.  The parties will take place from August 8th through the 10th.

Come celebrate a great summer full of reading!  Brian's magic show will include tricks from around the world and feature storytelling, juggling and more! After the show, snacks will be served and if we've met the goal of reading 5,000 books, a few lucky kids will get to throw
water balloons at the librarians!

County Library Hosts “One World, Many Songs”

The Cape May County Library invites children up to twelve years old and their caretakers to “One World, Many Songs” presented by national award-winning singer/songwriter Patricia Shih. The program will take place at various library branches from August 1st to August 3rd.

Each of the songs in Shih’s concert includes the audience.  There will be singing, dancing, playing games, and of course, loving books!  Join the fun and help make one world through many songs.

County Library Hosts Teen Cooking Class

Cape May Court House  – The Cape May County Library invites teens, ages 12 to 18, to participate in “Teen Cuisine – Italian Cooking” presented by Chef Mark Kalla on Saturday, July 30th at 1 p.m. The program will take place at the Main Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.

Join Chef Mark Kalla as he teaches how to cook some amazing Italian dishes using fresh New Jersey ingredients! All cooking is hands on and you will get to taste the food prepared during class!

County Library Hosts Preschool Dance Party

Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library invites children ages 2 to 5 and their caretakers to a “Preschool Dance Party” on Friday, August 19th at 11:30 a.m.  The program will take place at the Main library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.

Children are invited to show off their amazing dance moves! The librarians will be DJing some of the hippest tunes for the kids and teaching some awesome dance moves.
