WILDWOOD — The halcyon days of a flat $35 fee to bring hundreds, if not thousands, of campers to the Wildwood beach are gone.

In their place is a new ordinance requiring a one-day event fee of $1,500 or a multiple-day event fee of $2,500. In addition to those fees, each tent, or similar apparatus, will cost $10 and vehicles on the beach will cost $10.

The new ordinance, received its second reading, public hearing and final passage during the Feb. 10 City Commissioners meeting.

The ordinance, also requires the applicant to provide a “bona fide copy of its liability insurance” to the city, naming the city as “additional insured with policy limits of $5 million in the aggregate and $1 million per each occurrence.”

Penalties for violating the ordinance include a fine of not more than $3,000, imprisonment of not more than 90 days, or both fine and imprisonment.

Any other way they can suck money out to pay their friends and family? They already make money via the thousands of dollars spent through tourism sales tax, parking meters etc.... Hopefully these fees don't discourage the boyscouts from wanting to visit the wildwoods, they have turned what used to be some bad weekends into strong weekends for the town business owners.

This is really turning into a slum town, first horses, now campers, you commissioners just don't want to realize to balance the budget, the need to reduce the workforce is needed.
