WEST WILDWOOD — "Thank goodness my job as mayor of West Wildwood does not require me to keep past politicians here happy. I think I would fail there,” Mayor Herbert C. Frederick stated in a release made available exclusively to the Herald, following the recent Borough Commissioners meeting on Fri., Feb. 3.
“But knowing that my opposition has unsuccessfully tried to recall me twice and continue to sue me and the borough, losing those efforts, too, is the thing that gives me the energy to keep doing what I believe is in the best interest of the public. There is a reason that my opposition is not in office and I am," Frederick continued.
Frederick said he is encouraged by the misbehavior of two former West Wildwood elected officials.
"The days of tax and spend are over," Frederick stated. "My goal as mayor is to do what is best for the taxpayers, not necessarily what makes former politicians happy,” he continued.
"Their misbehavior in public is encouraging to me. They are angry and can't control their emotions. I am not going to buy their problem,” Frederick said. "My administration has basically dismantled the two former administrations' 20 years of give-away policies in one fell swoop. The two former mayors gave away superficial employee holidays that my administration has now dismantled through new contracts and policies. Our borough employees now receive the same amount of holidays that other towns in our state get and those that the State of New Jersey get," Frederick stated.
Changes as to how many holidays are celebrated by public employees in West Wildwood, reduced vacation time for employees and pay freezes instituted by this administration has allowed the Borough to keep all of its employees working and provides better service to the public. "West Wildwood is one of very few communities that can say they have successfully stabilized property taxes and is keeping all of their employees working. I am proud of that accomplishment and I see criticism of those accomplishments as a stretch for these two critics," Frederick announced.
"The days of the past when taxes go up every year and services decrease are over. The days of borough cars being given to family members and friends of politicians at taxpayers expense is over," Frederick continued. "Overtime and abuse of spending tax dollars are over. Policies that break the backs of taxpayers are over."
Frederick said that he also strongly believes that recent complaints filed in federal court by the borough that have implicated some former politicians in the borough may also have encouraged those ex-politicians “to misbehave in public.”
"The litigation initiated by my administration is our effort to recover more than $1 million in mismanaged land deals that has hurt taxpayers here. Enough is enough and if former politicians are upset that my administration is a whistle blower, then that is just too bad,” Frederick said.
"The taxpayers in West Wildwood have spent enough. It is time to correct the problems of the past, get spending under control and work hard to recover public funds lost due to possible questionable management practices of the past. I am encouraged by the outbursts of these two former borough commissioners. This tells me that my administration is on the right track. And we will continue on that track in the interest of the public,” Frederick concluded.

if you are keeping all the employees working, where is Maria? where is the police LT? Why did you cut all the hours to your class 2's? why did you hire someone to work on the weekends because you owe his father a favor? Why have you not made Officer Luna full time? You are not looking out for the residents, you remove their handicap parking spots. you are not looking out for the employees, they all hate you

Fredericks dont care , He gets a 90 thousand dollar a year pension from the schools and another pension from west wildwood . someone should take money out of his pocket and watch him cry and make himself out to be the victim like he does in this story . Dont feel sorry for him he creates all his own problems

It seems like this mayor thinks he is teaching a bunch of school kids. Saying they Missbehaved is insane ,But wait, I have to correct myself ,the mayor is insane. It goes to show he cant deal with a large crowd of people . It also shows he still thinks he can talk to adults like they are children.

using the last name of a family and refering to them as scum is not right .it just goes to show that you are on the side of Frederick and McNamara because that is how they operate. Maybe you should open the closet and union hall on the 2 you support.

I AM STILL WAITING FOR YOU TO GIVE , FOR THE FIRST TIME, AN HONEST ANSWER TO AN HONEST QUESTION. AND MR HIGH AND MIGHTY, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY INTELLIGENT PERSON ON THE WEST WILDWOOD PLANET

How much was the previous chief making? More than $55,000? How much did two recalls cost taxpayers?

This is in response to foxisscum so you dont think 55,000 dollars a year is not over spending for a deputy chief for a staff of 3 or 4 as you say. As for the recalls your mayor decided to spend all the tax payers money for the lawsuits. And on a final note pertaining to a former employee your mayor has not abided by a arbitration ruling,a superior court judge ruling and a appellate superior court ruling. So in that matter that has cost you the tax payer more money and is still ongoing so you still say your mayor frederick is not overspending. so when all is said and done with all these lawsuits you will be wondering why your taxes have skyrocketed to cover it all.

There are two sides to every story and somewhere between them both is the truth. In response to bad carma, why does west wildwood need a police chief? There should have never been one to begin with. What to manage a staff of 3 or 4 people? Please I think what we have now is sufficient. Again a police chief is exactly what Frederick’s is talking about overspending. [REDACTED] Also you talk about these lawsuits and how much they are costing taxpayers, how about how much those non sense election recalls cost taxpayers? Too much for the same result twice! Take a lesson that every young kid usually learns growing up and don’t be a sore loser. Lastly, FYI its spelt rumor not rumer, maybe we should only let people with at least a high school diploma vote

What a joke!! This frederick guy has divided West Wildwood. He gave all his friends and family jobs and has used the Tax payers money to sue every past employee. In the past 4 years over 500,000 dollars of tax payers money has been used in one lawsuit alone and this suit is expected to go on for another 4 years .Not to mention the other 7 lawsuits and the federal lawsuit for puting a wall in front of a home . Should I remind the people in 4years the Borough has gone through 7 clerks and 3 chief finacial officers and Frederick has hired his sister to run the public works dept. There been no police chief fr 3 years and the police dept is a bunch of 12 year old looking children. The only one under investigation is Fredericks . Rumer is the state police gov crimes division is investigating Frederick for using your tax dollars to defend his and McNamara election and also the voter fraud out of a certain venice ave House/marina.
