VILLAS — Mayor Michael Beck swore in two new Lower Township police officers, Matthew Gamble and Anthony Greto, at a Mon. Feb. 6 Township Council meeting.

Following the ceremony, Police Chief Brian Marker said the men completed 22 weeks of strenuous training at Cape May County Police Academy. He said two other officers started the police academy earlier in the day.

“This will help alleviate some of the concerns that we have as far as the many retirements that we had last year, so we are bringing our numbers back up to strength,” said Marker.
