VILLAS — Lower Township resident Marianne Rementer wants to do something about drug problems in the municipality. She has initiated an on-line petition to have Lower Township Police Officer Chris Lambert reassigned to the drug detail.
Those who share her sentiments will find and may sign the petition at: www.change.org/petitions/lower-township-police-put-chris-lambert-back-on....
Rementer’s action came in the wake of the Herald’s page one story Dec. 14 regarding the substance-abuse death of Christian O’Rourke earlier this year, and those of at least five other young people that same week, all under similar circumstances.

I am just saying ... drug arrests do not equal safe streets. They fill up our jail sure .. then they have to let people go because they are over capacity , its also a waste of taxpayer money and the more you crack down on it the worse its going to get. look at the alcohol prohibition for example, made a bunch of gangsters out of everyday people. Yes I am all for legalization. I have have had family members with problems and relatives are in the ground now because of drugs but maybe more so because of drug prohibition that the bags are not labelled with a standardized dose so you have people taking drugs and not knowing the amount that they are taking leading to their deaths. I am past that now but if I wanted help with said problem I would rather have a family member or a medical doctor treat the addict for this "disease" rather then a lowlife cop just trying to line his pockets and up his arrest quota. By supporting more narcotics cops you are supporting the failed drug war.. insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting different results, that applies both to the drug user and the front runner that wants more cops working on drug prohibition.
Your post is laughable in that thinking drug arrests will help the problem, sure fill up the jails , ruin peoples lives with a drug possession charge, break up their families so a few stupid people will end up Oding anyway thats the reality of it .. people are going to do what they want to do in regards to what they put inside themselves. My personal view , take all the narcotics agents and have them work on real crimes, legalize drugs and then maybe I can smoke a joint in peace. Im sorry people die from heroin but you know what ? they also die from gunshots old age , alcohol , smoking, tylenol, lightning, falling ,being stupid , unprotected sex, car crashes and stabbings.

Nugget, maybe as a concerned citizen, you should get the truth on the entire facts concerning Lambert. Sure there are the false rumors out there and then there's the truth. Or is your post more just about getting drugs legalized? And that is fine if thats how you feel. For myself I want our streets safe, I want drug arrests, I want these dealers to know if they come to our town they will be caught. I feel our children desirve to be safe, to be able to go to the Rec Center or Park and not have drugs pushed on them! I don't want to be at these places and see empty drug bags or others using drugs. This is our community and we need a change. Does anyone know how many "drug-overdoses" there was in just the last few months that the person died? How many that the person was saved? How many crimes took place that where linked to drugs. To me the same people who spread the false rumors will be the first one to want this officer to help them WHEN they or a family member becomes addicted to drugs. I remember when this officer was fighting drugs, there was arrests all the time, anyone can go back and read the arrests Lambert made. When you read over and over the large drug arrests that where made , then they totally stopped. We all know the drugs didn't just stop, actually they are even worse now. The citizens of Lower need to support our officers and demand action against drugs.

I agree with kaotic but more to the point of this article I've given it some thought and isn't detective lambert the guy responsible for making the prosecutors office have to dismiss alot of drug cases ? and you would have him do this some more ? seems kind of stupid to me. I have never met detective lambert and cant really comment on his professional practices I just have to really think to myself that whats the use? the more its enforced the worse it gets I believe that the only way to go about really having an impact on the war on drugs and thier use of would be to stop all this nonsense , legalize drugs and regulate them for a lot of different reasons.

HOLD UP...THIS IS ALL WRONG...We will never adress the problem here as a whole until we consider a responsible way to regulate the problem...Recently Gov. Christie amongst other top officials have declared "The War on Drugs" a failure...I tend to strongly agree and i can support that decision...First off, God, if thats what you believe in, said the only thing he cannot control is "Free Will", which is strongly enforced in our Constitution, but widely overlooked for the more regulation we create, the more we restrict ourselves from our Constitutional freedoms devised from the greatest National policy ever known to mankind...Therefore, not only can we not afford to maintain the useless spending for this "drug war"... ( $500.00 a second is spent on marijuana alone with a 89% possession 11% trafficing enforcment) Its just downright arrogant to think that u can force someone into the decisions they choose to make with "their own" bodies....Therefore, as long as there is a demand for drugs, the voilent black market, cartels, crooked govt' agencies, all the way down to your local street gangs will find a way to always keep the money circulating, at the expense of our confused children caught up in a techno-materialistic age mixed with a torn economy that the local police prey on hoping to make a name for themselves just to hold some type of "RANK" and a tax revenue funded paycheck.....SOOOO....If u want street dealers out of ur neighborhoods, weapons, reasons to "hold down" certain territory, teens gaining access, and overall useage to decline, reduction in street gangs and street voilence, more secure boarders, and billions of jobs....U must Legalize and REGULATE drugs....Does it sound sickening....In our "mainstream" society it sounds outraegous,.....BUT WE MUST DIG A LITTLE DEEPER....If drugs were legalized and controlled just like the other "KILLERS"...(ALCOHOL/CIGARETTES)...U would first off create a market that would eventually put the violent cartels outta business and that alone would create a domino effect that trickles all the way down to the street gangs and drug dealers near u...So now if it is indeed regulated and the cartels and dealers are financially compromised, teens should instantly have significantly higher restricted access with the assumption that there will be a rigorous penalty enforced to ANYONE who distributes regulated drugs to minors....Lets say 20 yrs manditory....Lastly, in respect to marijuana alone, it is the #1 must thing we need to legalize, "RIGHT NOW" to create high paying jobs and prosperity in this country, Marijuana is a 100% SAFE, ALL NATURAL, BIO-DEGRADEABLE PRODUCT with 25,000 different markets, that would create millions of jobs, if not a billions...0 overdoses worldwide in history with impeccable medical value.....bio-degradable plastics that are 10 times stronger than steel....HEY, HOW ABOUT 100% ENVIORMENTAL FRIENDLY ENERGY INDEPENDENCE ......and the list goes on!!!!!!

the related crimes are tied to the value of the drugs thanks to "getting tough on drugs" and the prohibition in general. the more you "get tough on drugs" the higher the value goes and the more violent the crimes surrounding said issue. Put a cop on every corner .. people are still going to get high~

We all realize there is a drug problem in this country, in our state, our county and in our home town, as Lower Township residents we need this officer back fighting drugs in our town. We hear of so many deaths due to drugs, and all the related crimes that are associated to drugs, basically drugs in some way effect every one of us. This one officer will in no way stop drugs but it's a important step in the right direction, if just one person is saved because of him, it's worth it. This is our town and we all need to do our part, I for one agree and signed the petition.

One who breaks an unjust law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.... Martin Luther King, Jr.
Chris's ego opens eyes,by experience,and unsettles the @$$

There is nothing worse than living in peace, in your safe and secure neighborhood and then it happens. New tenants, with cars coming and going all night. Syringes begin to appear on your lawn, and you worry about leaving home. The police cannot be at your home 24/7 and the only hope is that they get raided. Such an undertaking requires investigation and you get frustrated waiting for action. But you have hope if you know there is a unit that works undercover who probably already knows the players and who you know care enough to take notice to the activities already established in so short a time-where you know your suspicions are not wrong. You take comfort in knowing it will happen, so you patiently wait. You have hope, then you hear the unit has been disbanded, because of clerical inefficiency. You shake your head in disbelief, wondering what the powers at be are thinking. Then you question yourself, "is there anything I could have done"? Seems like now is your chance, sign the petition.
