STONE HARBOR - The Stone Harbor Borough Council has implemented its irrigation policy for all property owners in the Borough during the year 2012. A resolution to support the new irrigation policy was adopted during the Tue., Feb. 7 council meeting.

The policy is intended to remind property owners that a cooperative effort in the Borough will result in reduced water use while at the same time keeping healthy, vibrant lawns and gardens. Communities in the state of New Jersey, including Stone Harbor, have to exercise every effort to remain below the water allocation permits established by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Stone Harbor’s 2012 irrigation schedule policy excludes property owners who use “soaker systems” for irrigation.

The use of sprinklers is approved in Stone Harbor during 2012 before 6 a.m. or after 6 p.m. only for no more than 30 minutes per zone. The schedule established by Borough Council is:

- All properties North of 96th Street may water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

- All properties South of 96th Street may water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

- No watering is permitted on Sunday.
