ERMA- Everybody knows how talented the drivers of snowplows are from our local towns and county public works departments.
They get us back on the road after 20 inch blizzards, often driving all night.
The Cape May County Public Works Association hosted the annual Snow Plow Rodeo Oct. 18 at the Naval Air Station Wildwood located at the County Airport. There were 33 entries in this year’s event representing Cape May County departments, local municipalities and other agencies.
Freeholder Director Dan Beyel said, “The main objective of the rodeo is to promote safety and constructive competition while preparing equipment and operators for the upcoming winter season.”

Sam, you're right, of course. You're comment about pro pols made me think you were bringing up an entirely different issue. (I think it kinda reads that way.) So I'm a bit confused: Do you want our money spent on rodeos such as this? And if so, why?

It's a waste of money no matter what economy's condition is. I'll say they probably weren't on the clock, but they are still running that equipment for no reason at all! That kind of event is for a privately owned business to put on to promote their business. In that case, it's THEIR money and they can do what they want. Sam, nobody hates the political cronies more than me. What do they have to do with the blatant, rub it in our faces, "look at us wasting your money and we're proud of it" snow plow folks?

Some of us appreciate all that these employees do.Some of us never stop whining.I am more than willing to pay my fair share for the work performed by these dedicated civil servants. It's the professinal politicians and all of their cronies grabbing the big bucks, they're just not such easy targets.Sam Kelly

When our county and municipalities are crying that there is no money, these county employee's and municipal employee's are out racing our tax payer funded vehicles spending our tax payer funded fuel for nothing more than some recognition. I'm sure all of the employee's were on the clock when they did this event. Stop the waste!

It is ALWAYS a rodeo when these plow drivers speed crazily down our snowy roads spewing salt and ice spray onto everything and everyone. And we are the rodeo clowns jumping out of their way into ditches, up on drifts, so they don't kill us or our pets. There is even the special event of Bowling For Mailboxes with the prize money going to the local carpenters via the homeowners courtesy of their insurance companies.
