Thank you @1776 I m an alcoholic I wish I could smoke pot but na the government rather me make them money on sales tax with beer and kill my liver..Licenses are just so you have to spend money to be an expert at something anyone can do. Then you can charge people whatever you want for your opinion. Just because you don't have a degree does not mean you don't know what you are talking about or doing...I still like how people think all people that smoke are retarded and low lifes...thats funny cause I know cops that smoke

MARMORA CAT: The law is the law even if it's retarded, discriminatory, a$$-backwards, and completely failing its objective. What exactly do you have against potheads? Do you also discriminate against against alcoholics?

O no another scary person with pot is put away..This is a joke. So now this man is gonna go to prison and cost tax payers while he receives the same meds legally now. Yea that makes sense.

When all of you mention the "war on drugs" perhaps you should read into some of the facts and do some mathematical calculations on the statistics of the illegal drugs being brought into this country. Follow the money and you'll see where the war on drugs is focused. Marijuana is not a cash crop for these cartels. Cocaine and heroin is where the money is at. If two Mexicans jump the border, each with a 50lb sack, one of cocaine, and one of marijuana, well the one full of marijuana is only worth $75,000($1500/lb). The one full of cocaine- close to $800,000(35K a kilo, 22.72 kilos in 50lbs).

I'm just getting sick and tired of these potheads hiding behind this medicinal marijuana like they're going to get it. The guy-no matter what his condition was in the wrong. Even if the state was up and operating their marijuana operation, and this guy decided to grow his own, it's still illegal! This guy could have been buying it from a guy on the street and only got hit with a simple possession charge-usually no jail time for a first time offense). Instead he had plants which changes the ballgame from possession to possession with intent to distribute. If you're speeding because your wife is in the car going into labor, it doesn't make it any less illegal. The law is the law and until it gets changed, you have to abide by them. Just because you might have some unfortunate disease/ailment does not exempt you from the law. I will say that the state has really drug its feet with getting the ball rolling. It's further being complicated by local municipalities which don't want marijuana growing/distribution facilities in their towns. Perhaps the state should get this program running like the did with the terrorist fencing project.

ROMEO FROSTY: I'm not a stoner, nor have I ever been. I can't even stand the smell of pot let alone cigarettes. However just because I don't want to get high doesn't mean I have the right to stop someone else from getting high. It's no different than getting drunk, and probably a lot better for you in many ways. The war on drugs is a complete, utter, dismal, failure. It is a waste of time and money. You will never stop people from getting high. You will never stop people from getting drunk. To attempt either is merely pi$$ing into the wind. Good luck with that. Legalize it, tax it, and set up programs for the non-violent addicts to treat them with the tax money raised. Any program short of this is pure fantasy and will fail in blazing glory just like the one that has been practiced for years now.

Let me start out by saying I don't have a problem with this guy doing what he did for a genuine medical condition and I think a prison sentence is totally inappropriate, providing it was for his own use and he wasn't selling it. What I do have a problem with is you stoners propping these unfortunate people up in front of you, just so you believe this will somehow aid you in your quest to legally get high yourselves. All the wasted time and energy in your quest to get high could be better spent on a more noble cause, and there are plenty of them. I just don't get that mindset. And I know you won't be satisfied with helping the sick until you are able to get it totally legal for you. After all, people like this poor guy are just a means to your end. You won't be happy until you can get a script for dandruff or a hagnail, short of being legalized. Why all the effort just to get high? Did grandma finally lock up her medicine cabinet on you? In any event, stop the charade that you care about these types of people and at least be honest about your true motivation.

So you but a man in jail for being sick, exercising he's legal right to use medical marijuana and grow it since NJ passes a law but doesn't follow thru with the ability to obtain it. Priceless??? How much does it cost to house him in prison?

Marmoracat, you just lost all credibility in my eyes.Kaotic, I feel your pain, you have made the most sense despite a bit of a rant.

This is absurd. If it is legal in New Jersey for medicinal purposes and the guy can't buy it where he lives, why can't he grow his own? I have to agree with kaotic. Marmoracat, are you the one who busted him?

Sun, 01/29/2012 - 9:52pm - Posted by: nugget

the guy got 5 years , so the state will pay to feed him and house him and pay for his prescription narcotics and medical for the next 5 years for growing a weed. So much for freedom

@marmoracat....apparently you know nothing about the benefits of legalizing marijuana Legalize It 420

I agree with kaotic about this issue. To tax and legalize pot would be a windfall for the government. The increased tax revenues and the savings of time and money, in the court system, would benefit all of us. There also would be more time for the police to focus on other crimes. As the end of proabition stopped the gangsters, the re-evaluation of marijuana laws would have the same effect. Those who want to smoke marijuana, would be able to buy it in a safe manner and smoke. Those who do not want to smoke, would benefit from the taxes paid.

I wasn't aware this individual was a medical doctor who is licensed by the state to prescribe medication, or a state approved medical marijuana producer, or a prescribed patient. He was in possession of marijuana, no matter how "legal" it might be for medical use, it's still currently illegal to possess in any way in this state. Looks like just another pot head who knew it was illegal and decided to try and do it anyways and got caught. Even if it was legal and he was prescribed it-the state still is not going to allow you to grow your own.

Obviously the marijuana this guy has been using has turned his brain into mush, and caused him to bleach his hair.

KAOTIC6347- Agreed!

For 2 years medical marijuana has been "LEGAL" in NJ and due to Gov. Christie's ignorance, people suffer on a daily basis, meanwhile alcoholics still terrorize our streets with their 2500 lb weapons. A good amount of these people are police and gov't officials who dodge these laws mostly due to their "STATUS" and "LAW" enforcement affiliation. We need a complete 180 on the legality of marijuana as a whole. The hypocrisy and brainwashing has been going on since the 1930's. Marijuana is responsible for ZERO overdoses in history, meanwhile, alcohol claims the lives of 440,000 people a year,....BUT since it has a "LEGAL" status, we can advertise this killer like fruit juice during ALL major sporting events. Even that aside though, i haven't seen any teenagers selling alcohol, which leads me to believe that the regulation of alcohol IS actually working, meanwhile the Al Capone"s that where created by alcohol prohibition were seriously impacted by the loss of strategical funds to secure their "FAMILY" (CARTEL) and since then has made our streets considerably safer. That is the same for marijuana. Since it is mostly socially acceptable, it leads me to believe that it is to be the #1 source of income funding these violent cartels that are now teaming up with terrorist organizations. $900.00 a second is spent against the war on marijuana and still to this second you can find marijuana at your local " home-based " distributor that is not regulated to keep it out of the hands of teens, not to mention that we neglect to acknowledge the 25,000 renewable market resources....MEDICAL, INDUSTRIAL, CLEAN RENEWABLE ENERGY INDEPENDENCE, SAFER RECREATIONAL ALTERNATIVE TO ALCOHOL, AND A RESPONSIBLE REGULATORY MARKET WITH A SYSTEM OF ID. This will eventually bring street-gangs and cartel's to its knees financially... That's how we address our SOCIAL issues as well...Be smart, educate yourself!!!! Legalize It 420
