Firefighters Train for Rope Rescue

WILDWOOD — Fire and Rescue personnel conducted refresher training in Rope Rescue Operations on Oct. 19. Firefighters from Wildwood, North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest Rescue participated in the quarterly training program held at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

During the training exercise firefighters rotated through four stations consisting of: Hauling/Lowering Systems, Anchor Systems, Stokes/SKED packaging and Ropes, Knots and Harnesses.

Part of the training consisted of a simulation involving an injured worker on an elevated platform requiring a high-angle extrication.

Instructors included Captain Daniel Speigel, firefighter Mark Barham and firefighter Ernie Troiano III of the Wildwood Fire Department, firefighter Josh Carter of the North Wildwood Fire Department and firefighter Mark Becia of the Baltimore City Fire Department.
