NORTH CAPE MAY — Kevin Lare of Erma took his brand-new boat out on the Cape May Canal in Lower Township for the first time in the evening June 28. However, the trip quickly turned into a darker scene when Lare noticed that the boat was having some troubles as the water ran rough.
The boat caught on fire and ran aground.
Lare and the five other passengers made it off the boat without any injuries. The New Jersey State Police responded to the scene at 8:30 p.m.
According to them, the boat’s fire damage was so severe that it is not likely to sail again.

No insurance fraud here. He just purchased the boat that morning and his son spent the day cleaning and preparing it so they could use that evening.

There wasn't even a hint of "lawsuit" or "insurance fraud" in this article. Yeah, it's a shame people act that way and I wouldn't if the roles were reversed, but don't jump to conclusions before the facts are in. Were it me in that boat, I'd be grateful my friends and I got away safely and I have no reason to believe he didn't feel the same way. If new facts come out, than that's an entirely different story, but for now, give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

rummrunner, although you have a decent theory, that's the kind of stuff I hate about this county. People that always assume the worst and feel negative, the glass is always somewhat full, even if it's only a couple drops. I don't understand why we always have to look for misdoings. Some of us pride ourselves on our honor and integrity, so stop bashing other people's misfortune to make yourself feel better.
