Crews Extinguish Burleigh Brush Fire

BURLEIGH- Fire crews from Rio Grande, Green Creek and the state Forestry Service answered a call for brush fire Wed., Feb. 1 about 2:05 p.m. in a wooded area behind 11 Jerome Drive, in a subdivision off Indian Trail Road.

According to Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Company Chief Richard Sweeten, the fire damaged the siding on a shed. It was extinguished in less than 30 minutes. A Rio Grande fire crew worked behind 11 Jerome Drive while other crews used Murphy Avenue, a dirt trail, off Pennsylvania Avenue to fight the brush fire.

The cause is under investigation.
