
DIAMOND BEACH — Lower Township Police Department is asking the public’s help to solve an Aug. 5, 2:30 a.m. beating on the beach outside Pier 6600 Hotel.
According to police, Matthew Duppel of the 200 block East Primrose Avenue, Wildwood Crest sustained facial injuries, but refused medical attention at the scene by rescue personnel
Duppel told police that the suspect confronted him, saying that he was the girl’s brother, and then punched him in the nose.
Two days later, the victim was driven by a friend to Cape Regional Medical Center, in Court House, for treatment of his injuries from the Aug. 5 incident. It was discovered that he also sustained a fractured cervical bone.
Duppel was transferred to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Center for treatment. He was later released.
Police detectives spoke with him and the possible suspects in regard to the incident and the investigation into what exactly lead up to the assault.
The possible suspect’s name was withheld by police pending further investigation.

Information given to Crime Stoppers is anonymous.
