A special program for children interested in sharks is presented during Cape May County Library’s 2007 Summer Reading Program, “Get a Clue at the Library.”

The New Jersey State Aquarium will present, “Sharks: Tooth or Consequences” talking about sharks, separating myth from real life in order to help understand these mysterious sea creatures.

Each child will get a genuine shark tooth after the show! The New Jersey Academy for Aquatic Sciences promotes the understanding, appreciation and protection of aquatic life and habitats through research, education and youth development programs.

Clifford, the big red lovable dog, is visiting all the branches of the library accompanied by children’s librarians.

Children can visit with Clifford, and enjoy a story time with songs, finger plays, and books suitable for the youngest of children!

For times, dates and additional information, call your local library.

“Lost in the Woods: a Child Survival Course” will be held at the Upper Cape Branch of the Cape May County Library, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg on Thursday, July 26 at 10 a.m.

The program will be presented by Kathleen Meyer of Belleplain State Forest and the New Jersey State Park Service.

The informative program is for students in grades one-four and focuses on what to do if lost in the woods. The British Columbia Search and Rescue developed this program and it is based on materials from the book Lost in the Woods by Colleen Politano.

Nine simple tips are highlighted to help a child if they are separated from their family, class or friends while camping, hiking or recreating in a woodlands area.
