The business and law partner of the failed candidate who ran against Sen. Jeff Van Drew recently wrote a letter trying to blame Van Drew for the Parkway fencing fiasco. How absurd! Van Drew has spoken up the loudest about these parkway issues, whether it be the tree cutting, the fencing debacle, replacing the traffic lights at exits 9, 10, and 11, toll increases or a full interchange at exit 20. Gov. Chris Christie is the only elected official who routinely receives the minutes of the Turnpike Authority meetings, but honestly, the fencing issue would hardly be mentioned in the minutes amidst all of the other issues being discussed. That's the point! Van Drew is correct. The least that the Turnpike Authority can do is hold hearings on these issues down here in Cape May and Atlantic counties before they commit to the projects, so we know what's going on and can give our input in the attempts to stop this nonsense. I seriously hope Van Drew gets his way, and anybody who's able should support him in this effort. JIM CLINE Swainton
