By Mickey Baltzer

To The Editor: The sexual revolution in America began with the radical free love queen and founder of Planned Parenthood in 1943, Margaret Sanger. Hailed for bringing birth control and later abortion to America, she proudly called birth control, "my religion." An avid opponent of marriage, she advocated unlimited sexual gratification without the burden of unwanted children. Contraception's bonded partner is abortion. Roe v Wade's decision in 1973 was based on the premise that Americans have come to rely on the availability of abortion in the event that contraception should fail. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1965 moved contraception from the moment of fertilization to the onset of implantation to accommodate abortive contraceptives and abortion. Contraceptives, including the pill, can rob newly conceived children of implantation and the nourishment present in the womb. If a child is unable to implant in the womb due to birth control chemicals, modern medicine conveniently assumes that no child was ever conceived. What has the age of contraception produced in the U.S.? Illegitimacy rose from 4 percent to 40 percent, cohabitation rose twelve-fold, one in four are infected with over 30 strains of STDs, unwed pregnancies and abortions soared as did divorce and single parent homes. The abortion decision is the same character as the decision to use contraception. Researchers tell us that private chemical abortions from failed birth control probably exceed more than the 50 million surgical abortions on record. The hypocrisy and crimes of a nation against God and man must be exposed. Let's stop viewing children as an option when God deems prosperity of the womb among His richest blessings. Please join us on Sun., Oct. 2, from 2-3 p.m. at the 21st annual Life Chain in Rio Grande at Routes 9 and 47. MICKEY BALTZELL Villas

I always love how these right wing , bible thumpin' , teapartygers keep making these ridiculous remarks . Here is a chronological sampling of Mr. Baltzell's musings published in the Herald :

8/16/2006 "So whether one examines the issue from a psychiatric perspective or a spiritual one, there can be no question that hom0sexuals can and do change." ****** I guess he means we can pray away the gay .

9/27/2006 "With the assistance of judicial tyrants and anti-religious powers, that which was once evil has now been packaged, perfumed, and gift wrapped into that which is now acceptable. They seek a Christ less Christmas, cross less mountain sides, a Godless pledge of allegiance, hom0sexual marriages, bigamy, online p0rn, and an explosion of middle school sex" . *****You can keep Christ in Christmas , keep god in the pledge of allegiance , erect your crosses , etc . But don't you dare try to take my online p0rn away .

9/25/2007 "There is a growing fear that the demand for millions of stem cells will lead to fetal farming ." ****** And this is a bad idea ?

9/30/2008 "Obama was the lone Illinois senator that twice voted against the “Born Alive Protection Act,” which provides health care for botched abortion survivors. He even wants to include abortion in Medicare coverage." ******Since you usually have to be 65 for Medicare coverage , I don't think there would be too many abortion requests for that age group .

2009 - I presume Mr. Baltzell missed posting this year because he was waiting in a cave for one of those " end of days " cataclysms .

9/21/2010 "....bait and switch tactic of the politically correct is embryonic stem cell research which has failed to produce any cures, and has even been responsible for causing dangerous tumors. President Obama, by executive order, used millions of taxpayer dollars to extend embryonic stem cell research by overturning the limits put in place by President Bush." ******Finally a president with brains enough to join the scientific community in order to help cure a variety of diseases such as Parkinson's disease, damaged hearts, spinal cord injuries and cancer .

Now , 9/27/2011 Mr. Baltzer attacks Margaret Sanger , the pioneer who was more responsible for the equality of women's rights than any other human . However , as usual , the ultra conservative , inflexible, intolerant, and narrow-minded Mr. Baltzell gets his "facts" confused . Contraception was mentioned in the bible . The so-called sexual revolution did not begin in 1943 . Perhaps he meant 1960 with the approval of Enovid ( the birth control pill ) . Ms. Sanger was not a " free love queen " but a hero to any modern woman who is not mired in the ancient catholic prohibition against controlling her own reproductive rights . I suppose the solution to all the world's ills would be to emulate Somalia , where the overpopulation has caused massive unspeakable and painful starvation for the children who were " lucky" enough to be born .....Yeah , I know you'll say that the drought caused all that misery . Perhaps they should call Rick Perry to hold a prayer vigil for rain . Oops , he did that in Texas......... and the whole state caught fire .

MICKEY: Surely you must be aware that abortion existed long before 1943 and the arrival of Margaret Sanger. You can't possibly be that ignorant......or can you? If Sanger wanted to proudly call birth control "her religion", she was totally within her rights to do so. After all this country was started by those seeking to practice religion according to their beliefs, or did you forget about that part?

"Illegitimacy rose from 4 percent to 40 percent, cohabitation rose twelve-fold, one in four are infected with over 30 strains of STDs, unwed pregnancies and abortions soared as did divorce and single parent homes." These problems that you mention are caused by many different reasons. Essentially you're talking about the breakdown of society. Birth control and abortion are only part of the problem. There are many, many more causes than just these two. Eliminating birth control and abortion would not fix these problems that you mention. These problems would still exist, possibly to an even greater extent.
