AVALON — Avalon Beach Patrol, police and emergency management officials are seeking the origin of eight five-gallons cans of synthetic oil that washed up on the beach today between Ninth and 15th street shortly before 1 p.m.
Lifeguards reported them to police, who summoned the local emergency management official and county Health Department officials.
Officials believe the cans may be from a commercial fishing vessel. Tests will be performed in an attempt to learn the origin.
No further information was available.
