Plan Free ADHD, ADD Seminar for Parents

COURT HOUSE — The county Department of Human Services will hold a July 18 free workshop from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for parents and those caring for children or adolescents with behavior or emotional challenges.

The seminar will be held at Atlantic Cape Community College, Court House Campus Lecture Room, 341 Court House -Dennisville Road.

All parents of children with ADHD, ADD and similar learning disabilities are encouraged to attend this free workshop, which will take place at the Cape May Court House Campus of the Atlantic-Cape Community College, according to Freeholder Gerald Thornton, liaison for human services.

Presenter will be Dr. Buzz Mingin, a national speaker who specializes in ADHD and other disabilities.

The workshop will address behavior management strategies in a home setting and will include such topics as positive redirection, limit setting and consistent consequences, among others. There will be a question and answer time at the presentation’s end.

The workshop will be sponsored by the Atlantic Cape Family Support Organization, Cape Assist and the Cape May County Department of Human Services and funded by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Ask the speaker what his doctorate degree is in and where he received it. Some "experts" receive doctorates on paper only. Want the truth? Contact the New Jersey Board of Psychological Affairs. They have some information for those who are interested.
