CAMDEN - Oliver Archer, 29, of Atlantic City was sentenced on Monday, Jan 11, to 78 months in federal prison for the May 8, 2009, bank robbery of the Ocean City Home Bank branch on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Archer was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine for robbing the bank branch of approximately $29,331.

Archer pleaded guilty on August 3, 2009.

On Friday, May 8. Troopers from Woodbine, Buena Vista, and Bass River stations set up a perimeter. A helicopter from NJSP Aviation unit was called to the scene to assist with search of the surrounding area.

Approximately one hour and forty-five minutes into the search a man who troopers did not identify flagged down a trooper and reported someone had broken into his house. The homeowner told police he had also found a note. Police say that note was consistent with a note shown during the bank robbery. State Police immediately surrounded the residence that was only a block away. Uniformed troopers and a K-9 dog made entry to the home where the man troopers have identified as 30 year-old Oliver Archer of Atlantic City was apprehended in a basement closet, according to state police.

Archer was in possession of a plastic bag containing an undisclosed amount of United State currency, along with an estimated $5,000 worth of jewelry which was stolen from the upstairs bedroom, according to state police.
