STRATHMERE -- State Police say the driver of a Subaru Forester that had been missing following a one car crash early Sunday morning has turned himself in and now faces charges including leaving the scene.

18 year old Johnathan McKeon and a juvenile passenger were traveling along Ocean Drive sometime after 3:00 a.m., when they lost control of their car.

According to police, the wreck had gone unnoticed for several hours until a passerby reported it around 5:15 a.m.

Once on the scene, police were unable to locate the driver and conducted a search that included the Coast Guard.

A few hours later, McKeon finally turned himself in to the Sea Isle Police Department and was ultimately charged with leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, and failure to report an accident.

Fortunately, McKeon and his passenger were able to escape without injury.

If he wasn't drunk when he turned himself in they can't charge him with DUI. This kid won't learn his lesson. He got away with it and he knows it.

The plot thickens, what was a juvenile doing out at 3am ? They probaly sobered up before going to the police. should bill them for the search that took place. Most insurance companies DO NOT pay out if alcohol was involved.

I wonder if this was someone who graduated from the "I'm That Guy" seminar for drunk driving. Perhaps this person came away knowing that if you don't get caught in the act, they can't arrest you. chuckle chuckle
